Beginner Level
In this one time literacy, science and drawing class, the learners will listen to a non fiction book called What If You Had Animal Teeth!? by Sandra Markle and illustrated by Howard McWilliam. The learners will learn all about wild animals and the purpose of their teeth. They will learn facts about beavers, sharks, narwhals, rattlesnakes, tigers, camels, crocodiles and so many more. The learners will then create a step by step, directed drawing of their face with animal teeth. If they feel comfortable doing so, they will share their finished project and tell what teeth they wish they had and why. They will share how they would act if they had those special animal teeth. The lesson will be fun, educational and engaging.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
