What happened in Salem in 1692 that caused one of the most infamous witch hunts in all the world? Using primary sources students will delve into what caused the witch hysteria. This class will meet for four weeks and will include collaborative learning projects, essay writing and students completing research on one of the accused and presenting their findings to the class. Class 1- This class will serve as an introduction to the Salem Witch trials. The class will include a vocabulary lesson, lecture and review discussion. Class 2- The second class will begin using primary source materials. During this class we will work together with primary source documents to discover what caused the Salem Witch Trials. At the end of this class, students will be assigned an essay. Class 3- During the third class, students will work collaboratively with court transcripts. Using these documents they will try to prove guilt or innocence. At the end of this class students will be assigned the webquest to prepare them for their presentation. Class 4- This class will be utilized for students to present their research to their peers. Materials will be presented to the class via Google Classroom. Students will also submit their work via Google Classroom.

I am a state certified teacher in social studies, English and library media. I have a BA in history and anthropology and a M. Ed in secondary education. I have taught for 15 years at a cyber charter school. During this time, I helped create the school's online high school program while teaching social studies and English classes.
