Class Experience

Calling all shark lovers!!!!!
Students will be taken on an online journey through the characteristics and different types of sharks for the first part of the course. We will then transition into the food web and how humans fit into it. We will also touch on what kinds of threats sharks and other marine organisms face. We will then brainstorm ideas for how WE can become "Ocean Protectors" to help sharks, fish and all marine life. If there is time remaining we will then play a review game or quiz to assess what the students learned from the course.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a STEAM educator and marine science researcher studying coral reef and seafloor ecosystems. I've been teaching a variety of STEAM topics to students K-8 at the Challenger Learning Center. Additionally, I have ongoing research projects that require me to spend a good deal of time underwater observing the animals that live there, and I would love to share the wonders of our oceans with you all!
