What Did I Just Read?! Strategies for Reading Comprehension

In this one time class, students will learn skills to further their comprehension of fiction texts by reading the short story The Queen Bee by The Brothers Grimm, answering questions, and engaging in a short writing activity.

Class Experience

Students will learn two strategies for taking notes during reading in order to enhance reading comprehension which they will demonstrate through answering questions about the text. 
I am a certified teacher in both general and special education, birth through sixth-grade. I taught for five and a half years in the New York City public school system. During that time I taught a variety of subjects, English language arts being the most important one. I have a passion for teaching reading comprehension as I believe that it is the basis of all other learning. 
Students will not be expected to complete any work independently.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In the story, there is an instance of two men being turned to stone. At the end of the story, they are released and live.
