What Am I ? Flower Identification and Observation
Fun with Flowers is a one time course that will teach children about flower names, how to identify a specific type of flower, and how to observe the similarities and differences between flowers.

Beginner Level
In this course, learners will learn: How to observe what they see Flower names with spelling The season the flower featured generally blooms in (annuals vs. perennials) Physical characteristics of the flowers Pollinators that the flowers attract Compare and Contrast flowers Similarities and differences of flowers Sorting based on appearance (smallest to largest etc.) Shape, color, size, name, pattern, petal amount, leaf appearance of plants and flowers. Class structure: Welcome/Introductions Questions (Do you have a favorite flower?) Introduce the plant/flower(s) that we will discuss Mindful observations Discuss what we see using vocabulary words (color, shape, size, pattern) Introduce the coloring sheet for coloring/drawing activity Discuss fun facts about the plant/flower Game (matching, sorting, or quiz) Closing (how to apply the class into your own environment) Fun with Flowers will be taught in a Child-Centered way. I will ask the learner questions about what they see and think about flowers in general, or a specific type of flower. I will focus on what sparks their interests, and allow that information to guide the class. Learners will interact with me and other learner throughout the entire course. I will utilize real flowers from my garden, handouts, games, and discussions to teach this class.

I earned a Bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development with a minor in Special Education. I have worked as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher, Montessori Guide, and a Preschool Teacher. I love teaching in a way that fosters natural curiosity, excitement, and spontaneity.
