Class Experience

In this class, students will learn some exciting facts about whales. Among the questions answered...

What is the smallest whale?
How far do whales travel when they migrate?
Do whales live longer than humans?

For this class, I will encourage students to participate and come up with their own unique questions about whales. We will examine whale migration and look at the migratory patterns of whales. We will also compare and contrast toothed whales and baleen whales by examining their similarities and differences.

Learning Goals

Students will examine how the changing seasons trigger the migration of whales to other parts of the ocean. Students will focus on three whales, the grey whale, the blue whale, and the humpback whale by mapping their migratory patterns.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Erin.

EXPERIENCE: I graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Development. I currently hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential issued by the state of California.

I have worked with preschoolers, kindergarteners, and 5th-graders as a teacher. And I have also volunteered with adolescent girls in a sewing class.

PHILOSOPHY: My philosophy is that every student needs and an excellent teacher. A teacher that supports their students and builds them up, who is a role model, prepared every day for lessons, takes the initiative to learn from their students, and builds a relationship with each student.
When a teacher demonstrates good qualities by putting them into action their students learn from them not just through instruction but also through their teacher's actions. And hopefully, with time they too will learn to show dignity and respect to others without being asked to do so.

ABOUT ME: I have lots of hobbies I am passionate about such as; drawing, crochet, sewing, reading, cooking, hiking, and playing video games.
