Class Experience

Students will learn facts about bears, Spanish words for places in nature, and the meaning of the word persistence. Students will practice the following literacy skills: beginning letter sounds, event sequencing, and sentence completion. Students will measure in inches, find numbers on a number line, trace 2 dimensional shapes, subtract with pictures, and identify the numbers 11-20.
I enjoy teaching unit studies as children are able to learn through a theme that connects different subjects together. I have taught preschool and first grade students in this way.
Students will be given optional homework each week such as finding out what kinds of bears live in their area or drawing a picture to go along with the sentence they completed in class.
I will provide all of the pages used in class or in optional homework. It would be helpful, but not required, to have a copy of the book. Most libraries have a copy. During the second class, students will need a paper plate, a glue stick, scissors, a black and brown marker or crayon, and pink, black and brown construction paper. During the ninth class students will need two paper plates, a brown marker or crayon, black construction paper, scissors, and glue. During the last (10th) class students will need 6 pieces of paper and crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
