30 mins in-class hoursAssessment
Learner assessment for this class is informal. I will be able to see and respond to students in the moment. For an introductory class, the expectation is that students will engage and do their best, not display perfection.Class Experience
In this introductory lesson, students will learn the basics of owning and playing the ukelele. Students will learn about all the parts of of the instrument, how to take care of it, and how to tune. We will talk briefly about the history of the ukelele and how it influences the way that we play today. We will learn a fun and easy song at the end of the class all together. My teaching style when introducing new instruments depends on lots of demonstration and trying again! Students will have lots of opportunities to explore and try out new things on their instruments without worrying about doing it "right." Learning music should be fun! Students will interact with me through questions, games, and playing. No prior knowledge is required to join in this class. In fact, the less your student knows before, the better. All beginner students are welcome. Lessons will become more difficult as your student progresses in their practice and skill.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to the basic concepts and skills on the Ukelele. Students will practice these skills and participate in active playing with the group.
These skills will improve student fine motor skills and help with literacy skills as they progress.
