Welcome to Elmore: The Amazing World of Gumball

Hello! My name is Teacher Jameelah Peoples, and welcome to my classroom. I am excited to meet you! I have a Bachelor of Arts in History from Columbia University and a Law Degree from New York Law School. I love learning and sharing my knowledge with others. Teaching is my passion!

I have over 15 years of experience teaching children.  I’ve been a homeschool teacher for my 3 children for over a decade. For 5 years, I was an adjunct professor.  I taught writing, ethics, and political science classes on campus in traditional classrooms and online.  I was an academic tutor for 4 years. I provided tutorial services in  reading, history, science, math, and writing skills for students in K – 8th grade. For the past year, I‘ve been  an  online ESL instructor for students in China. 

I believe a classroom should inspire students to become confident, independent learners.  I like to do this by using props, singing songs, and playing games. In my classroom, scaffolding is essential to mastery.  It is important to provide a guide for children to follow. This enables me to assess their skills,  and adapt the lesson to maximize their understanding and excitement about learning. My ultimate goal is to engage children in activities that encourage them to blossom into lifelong learners.  

I would love to share my passion of reading, history, writing, math, and science with your students. I plan to offer classes like: Storytime and Art Appreciation for lower elementary students, Writing Skills classes for all grade levels,  Popular Movie and TV Show  Discussion and Analysis classes, and Science and  Nature classes featuring fun science facts.
