Class Experience

Using a Dr.Seuss book as our starting point each week, students will explore the components of creativity. We'll examine the creative art and word usage in the Seuss books listed below, one per week: [Dates are tentative, and subject to change depending on student choice]
-Oh, The Thinks You Can Think [August 27]
-If I Ran the Zoo [September 3]
-The Cat in the Hat [September 10]
-One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish [August 4 & September 17]
-Oh, The Places You'll Go [August 11 & September 24]
-Green Eggs and Ham [August 18 & October 1]
-There's a Wocket in my Pocket! [August 25 and September 1]
-Fox in Socks [September 8 & October 8]
-I Can Read with My Eyes Shut [September 15 & October 15]

After reading and examining the book, learners will use basic supplies (paper, scissors, glue, coloring utensils of choice, clay/dough) to create from their own minds. Some things that learners may choose to create:
-creatures
-plants
-buildings
-landforms
-skyscapes
-poetry
-story
-fashion design
-jewelry
-transportation
-machines

Students will grow their confidence by sharing their project with the other students at the end of each session.
