Class Experience

Kids love animals, kids love weird things, kids are inquisitive and like to know the how and why of everything. Let's put it all together into 1 ongoing class. Each class we will focus on a different animal. We will learn all about the animal and its habitat. We will come to understand why it looks the way it does, what its habits are, and what it needs in order to survive. While the main focus will be on fun facts surrounding unique and strange animals we will also learn about our environment and the importance of habitat. Each day I will introduce the animal and include 10 interesting facts about it. We will watch 1 fun and zany video about the animal of the day to try to see it in its natural habitat. The class will then move on to the hands-on portion of the class. Each week this activity will vary. It will include science projects/ concepts, art projects, conservation initiatives, games, stories, and activities. Whatever the activity the goal will be to learn more about the topic of the week while working on related academic skills.

Each week I will post an attachment on the classroom page with any handouts the children will need or a list of materials that you may need to take part in the class the following week. I will try my hardest to make sure to get this list out a week ahead of time in case you need to add something to your shopping list. While I will accommodate, when possible, for kids who don't have the supplies please make a concerted effort to make sure you child has what they need as this really adds to the enjoyment of the class. Due to the age of the students, they may need help with the hands-on portion of the class, although, I do pride myself on being able to walk students' through things across the camera lens. In order to make this class, and most likely other Outschool classes, less stressful to prepare for I do suggest having the basic desk and art supplies available to your child in a place they can easily access. Come join me for a fun-filled, educational class about a topic most kids love- weird and wacky animals!
