In this class, we will learn about real animals that are unique and surprising, discuss their traits and make drawings of them, as well as create an imaginary creature with strange features. Every week we will look carefully at 4-5 animals that are unique to their species/ unusual looking, or have unusual features/ survival strategies, discuss and draw them and then make up our own character inspired by the creatures we drew. Students will learn the names, classifications and behaviors of scientific animals as well as new vocabulary that will help them discuss unusual animals and how they differ from others. We will compare and contrast, draw, use both sides of the brain, and learn important socialization skills.
No homework but lots of encouragement to do more!
Pen and Paper/ Markers or Crayons if you want them!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
