2 live meetings
1 hrs 40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing class we will meet twice a week and play different games, like BINGO, Pictionary, Memory etc. We will have story time and/or crafts as it relates to lesser known holidays and milestones of the year. In addition to games and crafts, students will have the chance to interact with one another, make friends and share with each other whatever is important to them at that time. This will be a social club where like-minded students can gather and create a safe community that they feel comfortable in. Much of the course will be student led but there will be a general schedule of activities. The students will be able to decide what games we play and what some of the classes will focus on. My class setting is a relaxed, fun, open space for students to be able to discuss and express their thoughts about what we are learning. I encourage student interaction with not only myself but with their fellow classmates. Everyone is expected to be respectful and listen to one another but also feel like they have the ability to share their own thoughts and opinions. I believe learning should be fun and try to provide a space for that to happen. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of California Riverside
Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and three cats! I like online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
