Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Class will be done using a powerpoint presentation and photos. Students will also have the opportunity to meet at least one real live axolotl that I own. Students will learn about Axolotl's habitat in the wild, where they lived, why they are endangered in the wild and what their natural preditors are. They will also learn about their natural diet. Students will also learn a little bit about their care in captivity. They will learn about their habitat needs and diet in captivity. We will not go into full depth about their care during this class, as it more focuses on the animal itself and not owning one. They will learn about the different colors and also their life cycle. Students will learn about what makes these animals so unique. If you own an axolotl or are wanting to get one I recommend taking The Care and Keeping of an axolotl class as it goes into alot more depth of the actual care needs of an axolotl.
During the first portion of the class, we will be viewing a powerpoint presentation that has slides with photos and videos. During the presentation, I will be doing a screen share so the students are able to view everything on the slides. Unfortunately during this time students will be unable to see their class mates as the zoom screen will be minimized. We will still have discussions and questions during that time to allow it to be more personalized than just a slide show. After the presentation I will take the screen share off so they will be able to see all of their class mates. I will also at this time share my axolotls with the students.

This is an Intro to Axolotl class, and doesn't contain more advanced concepts. Furthermore, I use the common American pronunciation of the word Axolotl. I have found over the years of teaching this class, that it's the pronunciation students are most familiar with. As with all words, there are numerous pronunciations.
