Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Students will build their confidence and skill in writing engaging content, developing a coherent storyline, completing a project, and if desired, getting it online and available to the public. Skills learned include researching background material, organizing content, writing clearly, social networking, and marketing.
Greetings! My name is Lisa Shea, and I am a bestselling, award-winning author of over 450 books. I have published on Amazon and all other major systems in practically every popular genre.

For fiction my topics include mystery, romance, literary, science fiction, historical, fantasy, thriller, dystopian, time travel, horror, and young adult. I have heroines who have Asperger's, who are teens, who are fifty, who are living in Medieval England, and who travel out of their bodies.

My non-fiction books include healthy eating, meditation, yoga, relationships, the environment, journaling, pets, writing, getting published, and marketing. I help readers manage their time and improve their lives.

I've been part of Amazon's community since the late 1990s. My books have reached the top levels of Amazon. They collectively have thousands of reviews. I'm extremely experienced in how to work with Amazon's systems, as well as those of iTunes, Nook, Google Play, and a myriad of other platforms. I've run ads with BookBub and the other major players. I've optimized ad income through Facebook, Amazon, and the other key systems. I've done hundreds of experiments on running Kindle Exclusive vs running "wide" (on all platforms).

I will be each student's personal mentor in all aspects relating to their writing project. I can explain how different types of sentence construction can engage the reader. I can discuss how slight changes in font size, line spacing, and margins can have an enormous impact on book sales. I can showcase how tweaking a cover can be enormously important to bringing in the RIGHT audience for a book - and why it's critical to tweak that cover fairly continuously to ensure the book targets well.

I will be each student's guardian angel on their shoulder to guide them along every step of their process.

Together we'll bring each student's book to its fullest realization!
Homework Offered
Students will be working on writing projects of their own choosing. If a student is new to writing and isn't sure where to begin, I can provide guidance and direction. The goal is to help a student work on their chosen topic area and to move it along to a finished piece. The time a student invests in writing is wholly up to them. I find that many writers adore writing and invest their free time in bringing their dreams to life.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
