Weekly Writing Practice - Become a Master of Adjectives and Descriptive Writing

In this 4-week class, students will learn about the importance of using adjectives to make their writing vivid and descriptive.  

In the first half of each class, there will be an interactive lecture in which we will look at examples of descriptive writing, discuss these examples, and practice together as a group.

In the second half of each class, students will have a chance to practice and improve their descriptive writing skills.  I will check-in individually with each student throughout the second half of class, helping each student improve his or her use of adjectives to create a vivid and descriptive masterpiece.  

Students will be able to write a paragraph in each class, either on a topic of their choosing or on the writing topic of the week.

Weekly Writing Topics:

Week 1 - We will look at and discuss examples of descriptive writing about hobbies or activities.

Week 2 - We will look at and discuss examples of descriptive writing about holidays or celebrations.  

Week 3 - We will look at and discuss examples of descriptive writing about favorite seasons.  

Week 4 - We will look at and discuss examples of descriptive writing about favorite places to visit.


At the end of each class, students who are comfortable will have the opportunity to share their writing with the group.  I will also give each student individual feedback on his or her paragraph.
