Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Let’s read, write and doodle along in this fun reading class as we practice more complex word family groups, sight words, and sentences. This class works on blends, diagraphs, other word patterns, and sight words. Sight words will compliment the word group and sentences of each lesson.

(Note: This class is a continuation of Word Doodles 1 class. You are invited to take them one at a time or together.)

Each class we will learn or practice a sight word as well as work on a word family group. We will practice reading fun simple sentences with predictable texts to help support early readers. Here is our class routine:

1. Sight Words Games & Activities (sight words often repeat)
2. Fun Sight Word Sentences with Visual Cues. Everyone gets a turn!
3. New word family with mystery pictures to find the missing letter. Everyone gets a turn!
4. Word Doodle Time: Write and draw a fun doodle together of today's words.
4. Sentence Scrambles: Unscramble and read simple sentences as a group and by taking turns.

I model each activity, and the students work together to participate. There will also be opportunities for each child to have the "spotlight" and have their own individual turns (with as much guidance and support as needed.)

Learners can join at anytime. Each class is its own lesson and will not build on a previous lesson. Currently, we rotate through 39 word families. Sight words repeat depending on the word family. Here's what's coming up on the schedule:

I am so excited for the opportunity to bring creative, energetic and meaningful lessons to the learners on Outschool. I am a certified school teacher, and I have classroom experience in both public and private schools. Currently, I work exclusively teaching online while homeschooling my own children. As a homeschooling family, we love to spend time together traveling when possible, and enjoying the great outdoors at our country home with our animals.

The classes I offer are full of fun activities that engage the students while they are learning. I love teaching with a theme that captivates the interests of learners. All of the classes that I offer are designed for learners in the 3-7 years old age range. My specialties include circle time, playdough playtime, alphabet mini classes and beginning level language arts.

It is my goal to give every student time to shine in all of my classes. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the lesson. This helps build important social skills, make friends and also feel important, valued and special. I look forward to seeing you soon in one of my very fun, interactive child-friendly classes soon!
