What's included

Class Experience

Each week, we will begin our meeting with a "window check" where each student checks the weather outside and reports back to the class. Learners are encouraged to record this in the form of a weather report for the class! This will help encourage confidence when speaking in front of the camera. Learners will engage with each other by asking about the weather where they live and sharing experiment results and in the classroom. Teacher will provide weekly video feedback to each learner.

We will also make a collaborative weather graph during the final week. We will even do a yoga pose or movement activity that relates to the weather of the week.

Next, we will have a class discussion about the weather theme of the week (see schedule below). The teacher will share some photos and videos to help the students visualize the concepts- these will be shared each Monday and will be shared via an unlisted YouTube link. The video will also include a teacher demonstration and step-by-step instructions for the STEAM activities of the week..

Lastly, we will do two STEAM activities each week. These will be included on the videos posted on Mondays. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math, so the different activities will touch on different aspects of STEAM over the weeks. As we work on the activity, we will continue to discuss the theme of the week and the science behind it. Learners will share their results in the classroom, as well as comment on each other’s post and ask questions to spark collaborative discussions.
