US Grade 2 - 5
Intermediate Level
In this class we will learn all about watercolor paints. We will learn how to use paints, paintbrushes and water. We will learn to use techniques like watercolor resist, blending on paper, adding texture, wet-on-wet painting, layering colors, and dry brush. The class is structured with instruction in a step-by step format. Steps will be broken down into small steps to ensure that all students are successful. I encourage conversation during our classes. Students can interact with me as much as needed! They are free to ask questions. I will give students positive feedback and suggestions along the way. One of my goals is to boost confidence in students and their art-making abilities. There is no required past experience for this class. Students just need to bring their creativity! Student input will be taken into consideration when planning future art projects. Every week we will choose together what we do the next week! Topics are outlined below: The rest of the topics will be chosen by the students! Week 1: (Saturday, January 18) Symmetrical Butterfly Week 2: (Saturday, January 25) Mountain Landscape-add Oil Pastels or Crayons Week 3: (Saturday, February 1) Abstract Patterns and Shapes Week 4: (Saturday, February 8 ) Llama Painting! Week 5 (Saturday, February 15) Watercolor Resist Technique Review The rest of the topics will be chosen by the students as the weeks continue! As the weeks continue, the students choose their own art! I will lead them in the topics they are interested in.
Learning Goals
Students will get comfortable using a variety of watercolor painting techniques and paint a complete art piece every week.

Pre-Requisites
No prior experience necessary! The level can be adjusted according to the students' experience and skill.
Supply List
Students will always be expected to have a piece of watercolor paper, a pencil, a black sharpie, a set of watercolor paints, a few different paintbrush sizes, a cup of water, and a paper towel. Additional aupplies needed: Week 2: September 17th, Week 5: October 8: crayons or oil pastels.
