Do you love Autumn (Fall) as much as I do? In this ongoing class, we will work with watercolor to create artwork around all things fall - the changing scenery, the crisp air, crunchy leaves, fall harvest flavors and festive holidays! This ongoing course is made for students who have some experience with watercolor and looking to expand their artistic abilities and have fun painting during the Fall/Autumn season! We will use a variety of supplies and resources. This art class is meant to be explorative and fun! Students will be exploring different techniques with the medium as well as work on their technical art skills like brush precision and pressure, blending & transparency. We will use these together to paint things related to the fall season: pumpkins, cats, leaves, autumn landscapes, spooky scenes and more. Week of 9/13: Practicing different brush strokes to paint sunflowers & mums in a pumpkin vase Week of 9/20: Exploring different techniques to paint an owl Week of 9/27: Practicing blending and wet on wet to paint realistic autumn leaves Week of 10/4: Practicing precision and layering to create fun autumn themed cupcakes Week of 10/11: Discuss patterns and layering to make a whimsical patterned pumpkin Week of 10/18 : Exploring wet on wet to paint fluffy black cats Week of 10/25: Learning about landscapes to paint a spooky starry night sky Week of 11/1: Exploring blending, wet on wet & different brush strokes to create autumn foliage As the teacher, I will guide the students through the process of painting with watercolor, modeling and describing what I am doing so they may follow. In the materials section below, you can find everything that you will need for this class. The students will be painting along with me as I teach the class. Students may engage me in conversation to ask questions, share, or show their work at any time! At the end of class, students will be encouraged to share their creations with everyone in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Laina and my passion is teaching art as a form of self-care and self-expression. I've been teaching art to elementary age children for many years now. I love seeing a child's confidence expand as they foster their own self-expression through art! I am traditionally trained as a graphic designer and I use watercolor art to add beauty to life around me. You will always find me creating something new- online, or off. I hope to see you in one of my classes soon!
