Weekly Vocabulary Fun! Improve Reading Comprehension for 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade (Certified Reading Teacher)
Each week, students will master 5 new vocabulary words from the National Reading Vocabulary List using Mrs. Ellis' personalized "Echo-Act-Jot" method, followed by an interactive Kahoot game to build solid comprehension of each word. We will work to improve spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension through fun and engaging academic games. *Perfect for intermediate readers or English language learners (ESL)

Students will improve their reading comprehension and test taking skills by mastering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade academic vocabulary terms. Students will become confident in their ability to read and understand grade-level words though interactive games.
Students may continue to practice the week's vocabulary words through the Kahoot application code given at the end of each class. An optional homework assignment will be posted to the classroom at the end of each class. Students may complete this and send it back to me to be checked if they so choose.
1 file available upon enrollment1) Paper/Pencil 2) A second device (tablet, phone, etc.) for students to access the Kahoot game. 3) If a second device cannot be accessed, students can go to the Kahoot website in another window on their computer screen. 4) Optional: Printed course materials posted in the classroom before class begins.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will utilize informal formative assessments based on teacher observation, student participation, and class discussion. These observations will guide me in adjusting the lesson as necessary in order to meet my students' needs. There are no formal assessments for this class.
