Class Experience

For this ongoing French class, beginner students will meet weekly for an interactive and fun Youtube video, accompanying vocabulary and speaking practice. It is a "next step" for students who have completed the weekly video and vocab beginner class or for students who have studied French on their own previously.

**At least 1 year of previous French study is necessary. **Please respond to my questions letting me know how long your student has studied French and in what capacity. You can also send me a message upon signing up so that I can help determine if this is the correct level for your student! If I don't have any background knowledge about your student's French learning, it's difficult for me to assess quickly and modify my class to fit his/her level.

We will learn lots of varied vocabulary each week (we will not "cover the basics" like some other classes do by just learning colors, numbers, alphabet. We will learn the vocabulary in the song ie- a deer, shaking hands, stepping in, boots, it's cold, snowball fight etc) We will learn and practice how to talk about our hobbies, our food preferences, our families, the seasons, weather, fairy tales and much more.
Each meeting will be structured as followed:
1- Learn and review important vocabulary
2-Watch a short (1-3 minute ) video or clip in French.
3-Discuss the video, answer questions about it in French and practice conversations surrounding the theme of the video.

**We will not use any other websites or external tools, students will not be asked to annotate on screen. The only requirement is that students are able to mute and unmute themselves as we do lots of talking and repeating!

**This class "no-stress" approach to language learning and acquisition. It is NOT an immersion class. I do use lots of visuals to help students with comprehension, but they are welcome to speak in English as necessary. I will sometimes speak English in this class, so kids that are overwhelmed. We will touch briefly on grammar and structures but mainly focus on communication and pronunciation.

I have had years of teaching age-appropriate videos to beginner French students and know that the visuals and lyrics of a children's Youtube video is one of the best ways to learn new vocabulary in French!

We will start out with the following videos/subjects
9/11 - La Pluie et Les Parapluies
9/18- On se Presente
9/25/23- Les ordinateurs
10/2/23- Le partitif
10/9/23 L'automne
11/13/23- l'amitié
11/20/23- La cigale et la fourmi
**11/27/23 Last class this semester)
