In this ongoing class, novice/ beginner French students watch 1 video song a week, learn the vocabulary & speaking. This is great, weekly French practice that is fun & engaging! Students are welcome to pop-in for 1 time classes too!

Class Experience
For this ongoing French class, beginner students will meet weekly for an interactive and fun Youtube video, accompanying vocabulary and speaking practice. **No previous French study is necessary. Although, students who have taken French classes before are welcome because we will learn lots of varied vocabulary each week (we will not "cover the basics" like some other classes do by just learning colors, numbers, alphabet. We will learn the vocabulary in the song ie- a deer, shaking hands,...
This class is taught in English.
Students will develop and improve their French vocabulary on a variety of topics. Students will use listening comprehension skills and work on strategies for understanding spoken and sung French. Students will be able to talk about themselves and their preferences. Students will be able to ask other classmates about their preferences.
I have taught a weekly "video vendredi" series in my 7th and 8th grade French classes for 10 years. I have incorporated listening practice and conversational speaking into my classroom with 12-14 year olds.
All students will receive access to "Quizlet" vocabulary cards that accompany our videos. Students can choose to use these to practice on their own, if they wish, but it is not required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All (1-3 minute) videos are found on "safe Youtube" searches, all are appropriate for children of this level.
