Class Experience

In this weekly show and tell class learners are invited to come as they are to share and chat with the group.

During each class meeting we will greet each other with a song before taking turns sharing the item we brought to class. As learners share with the group they will have a chance to practice various social/conversational skills such as taking turns, speaking, listening, and asking questions. This class is designed to be a fun and welcoming environment for your learner to practice public speaking with their peers. I can't wait to see what your learner brings to class to share!

Each week we will have a suggested theme for show and tell. If your learner does not have an item specifically related to that theme, that is ok. They can bring an unrelated item if they wish. My hope is that your learner chooses something to share that they are excited to chat about!

Weekly Themes:

****January****
Week of January 6th: Mystery item- choose anything you'd like to share. Come prepared with clues about your item so that we can try to guess what it is!
Week of January 12th: Something you collect (action figures, Pokemon cards, rocks, coins, dolls, cars, etc)
Week of January 19th: Something that is your favorite (outfit, color, toy, food, etc)
Week of January 26th: A hobby or something you like to do (puzzles, science project, magic trick, ballet shoes, baseball bat, etc)

***February****
Week of February 2nd: Mystery item- choose anything you'd like to share. Come prepared with clues about your item so that we can try to guess what it is!

Week of February 9th: Bring in an object, picture, or story about something or someone you love. It could be a favorite book, a family photo, a hobby, or even a pet! Share why it’s special to you.

Week of February 16th: Share a story or example of an act of kindness you’ve done or received recently. You can also bring in a drawing, photo, or object that represents kindness to you.

Week of February 23rd: Bring in or talk about your favorite game, sport, or activity. Explain why you enjoy it, and if possible, share a quick demonstration or instructions on how to play.

****March****
Week of March 2nd: Mystery item- choose anything you'd like to share. Come prepared with clues about your item so that we can try to guess what it is!

Week of March 9th: Bring in your favorite book or a picture of a character you love. Tell the class what it’s about and why you enjoy it. You could even share your favorite part or read a short section.

Week of March 16th: Bring in something related to the weather, like a drawing of your favorite kind of weather, a weather-related fact, or even a small weather tool like a thermometer or rain gauge. Share why you picked it!

Week of March 23rd: Find or create something that reminds you of spring. It could be a flower, a picture of baby animals, a drawing of the sun, or anything that feels like springtime to you. Share why you’re excited for the new season!

Week of March 30th: Talk about your favorite snack or treat! You can draw it, bring in a photo, or describe how it’s made. If it’s a unique snack, explain where it comes from or how you discovered it.

Hello Outschool Families!
I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to teach and connect with learners here on Outschool. With 14 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages in a variety of settings.

I began my teaching journey working as a substitute teacher at the elementary level while taking classes to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. After earning my degree, I taught 10th-grade World History at a large public school in South Florida. Teaching history was a dream come true, and I loved every moment of it! At the end of my fourth year teaching high school, my husband's job transferred him to Virginia where I began working as a lead teacher at a preschool over the summer. I thought teaching preschool was just going to be a summer job, but it turned out that I fell in love with the littles and teaching early literacy and reading.

After the birth of my daughter, I transitioned to online teaching. I’m grateful for the flexibility it offers—both for my students and myself. One of the best parts of teaching on Outschool is connecting with learners from all over the world.

Teaching is my passion, no matter the platform being used. There is nothing quite like seeing learning "click" for a student and watching them begin to excel on their own. My favorite topics to teach are history as well as early literacy, reading, and writing. I'm an avid reader myself and it brings me great joy to see my students get as excited about reading as I do!

I look forward to meeting your child and joining them on their learning journey. I hope to see you in class soon!
