Description
Class Experience
This is the Outschool equivalent of a regular Pre-Algebra study hall, where peers and a competent tutor are together for an hour at a time, able to explain and encourage one another in the pursuit of Pre-Algebra. We meet once a week, though you can sign up for multiple sessions if you want more. The expectation is that students who join this study hall are enrolled in a Pre-Algebra course elsewhere, online or in person, and need a bit more support. Some students benefit purely from...
Students are expected to be taking Pre-Algebra somewhere else (or here on Outschool), and this Study Hall is intended to support that. Participation in Pre-Algebra Study Hall should improve a student's performance in their Pre-Algebra course.
I've tutored Algebra and related subjects for decades, and am comfortable teaching students that "hate math."
As a Study Hall, there is no specific homework other than what is assigned by your instructor. Occasionally, videos or other teaching aids may be shared, but viewing them is not mandatory.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The hope is that participation in Pre-Algebra Study Hall will support a student in their other Pre-Algebra class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Algebra teaches logical thinking skills that can be quite troublesome for the unprepared parent.
If I'm struggling to explain a topic, I may refer to Khan Academy videos, or material available via YouTube.
