In this course, learners will be challenged; but in the best way possible. Each week, the Physical Education class will incorporate valuable information about health and activity alongside the fun games we play to stay strong and healthy. There will be a wide variety of exercises within the games we play and a chance for students to show their growth and knowledge. My hope is to grow not only learners' love for activity, but to grow their confidence and knowledge about the body as well. We...
Students will improve their understanding of the importance of physical activity and keeping the body healthy while participating in fun and engaging activities.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and I am certified in Physical Education EC-12 (Early Childhood - 12th grade). I have 2 years of experience as a physical education teacher in primary and elementary schools as well as experience as an athletic coach for middle school and high school sports.
No homework will be assigned.
Students will not require any materials other than themselves, an open area, proper footwear/clothing, and a water bottle for each weeks class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will be assessed informally by observing student participation.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Since this is a physical education class, I do want to mention the potential hazards when participating in physical movements. These hazards include (but are not limited to) overheating, rolling/spraining an ankle, breaking a bone, nausea, fatigue, etc. I highly suggest that students have an open area for movement, comfortable clothing, proper footwear (tennis shoes tied tightly), and a water bottle. We will be stretching together at the beginning of class, however, if they would like to stretch beforehand as well it can never hurt to do so.
