Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will build confidence drawing and creating art! No prior experience necessary; all kids are welcome to come and enjoy the art making process! We'll learn about the elements of art, like texture and color, as well as interesting facts about each week's theme!
Miss J studied fine arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey as a private art tutor, leading weekend paint classes for children and adults, and following her passion as a kids' entertainer providing professional face painting, balloon artistry, bubble-science shows, magic, and more to her local area birthday parties, preschools, and libraries! At the heart of everything has been a passion, love, and respect for children and helping them find joy in their talents and interests; especially their artistic talents. With a background as a preschool teacher and private nanny, Miss J has a unique blend of education and experience perfect for sharing the joy of creating and making art with kids!
Most weeks we will use tempera paint with brushes, rinse water, paper, and a paper towel to wipe your paintbrush on. Sometimes we will change it up and use watercolors or add an additional material to our painting. It will posted in our online classroom when we will be using anything other than tempera paints. Recommended Basic Supply List: -"Paint Pad" of heavy paper -Plain white printer paper for drawing and sketching -Paintbrushes in various sizes (round brushes and flat square-ish looking brushes) -Watercolor paint -Tempera (or Acrylic) paints -Oil Pastels or crayons -Markers -Pencil and eraser -Paper towel for cleaning brushes or accidental spills -Cup with water for rinsing paint brushes
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Projects will vary in materials. Each week's materials will be posted in the Classroom, along with any notes concerning additional help or guidance Learners may need.
