Students will continue to build on their hula movement skills that they learned in the Introduction to Hula Dancing class with me.
Class experience
This class is for those who have taken my Introduction to Hula class. We will continue to build on the basic movements and techniques of hula dancing. We will do some light stretching at the beginning of each lesson and then each movement will be broken down and then we will execute the movements together. Students will learn the various movements of hula dancing. In order to advance from the beginners level, to an intermediate level, students should be able to name and execute the hula movements that they are taught and have the basic choreographed hula dances memorized, and be able to execute the dances by themselves successfully.
I was born and raised in Hawaii and have been studying and performing the art of hula dancing for over 30 years.

Students should have an open space, free from any potential hazards or fragile objects. They will be moving a bit, so I would suggest that the space be no less than 6 ft. x 6 ft. Comfortable athletic/workout apparel is best for this class. Students may choose to use a skirt, wrap, sarong, or something of the like, in order to be able to see their hip movements, while performing the movements. The movements are geared towards a beginner and should be able to be completed without supervision from a parent. However, please be aware that injury can happen when engaging in any physical activity. We will do some light stretching, however it is always a good idea to do some leg and arm stretches, prior to the lesson. Students should bring a bottle of water to this course, as hydration is necessary and encouraged throughout the lesson. Students may want to reference some songs via YouTube, so parental approval will be needed for this.
