This is a weekly 50-minute grammar class designed to help students in the upper elementary grades become better writers and grammarians. Students review a different grammar concept each week. Learners can come and go at any time. Class first warms up with a grammar question, then the major concept is introduced typically through a craft or activity. Students learn and practice some examples together, then compete in a fun Gimkit or Blooket game! This class covers all major grammatical topics and skills from the 3rd-5th grade grammar standards including parts of speech, punctuation, commonly confused words, agreement, capitalization, and more. There will be optional supplementary activities after each class. Topic and materials will be posted on outschool classroom prior to class. Materials needed: printouts, notebook or paper, scissors, glue, pencil, coloring supplies Week 1 (11/4): Parts of speech Week 2: Plural nouns Week 3: Abstract nouns Week 4: Verbs Week 5: Verb Agreement Week 6: Adjectives (comparative and superlative) Week 7: Conjunctions Week 8: Capitalization Week 9: Types of Sentences Week 10: Spelling Suffixes Week 11: Commas Part 1 Week 12: Commas Part 2 Week 13: dangling modifiers

👋 Hello, and thank you for visiting my Outschool profile! Since I was 5 years-old, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Now, 7 years in my career, I still love it. There is nothing that I enjoy more than helping my students reach their goals and become better readers, writers, and thinkers. In all of my classes, I incorporate evidence-based techniques and strategies and focus on making learning enjoyable.
In my brick-and-mortar classes, I work with all levels of students (IEP students, general education, and high ability students). My goal as a teacher is to foster critical thinking and communication skills in order to help your child achieve their goals and become more proficient readers, writers, and critical thinkers. More than that, I encourage students to fall in love with learning.
For Outschool, I teach literature-based courses, novel studies, writing courses, grammar, vocabulary/etymology, test prep, and reading comprehension/strategies. My classes cater to all learning types and students are expected to participate in order to get the most out of the lesson. Students will complete my classes feeling accomplished and successful, as building confidence and true enjoyment in the subject is my first priority.
I have specialized training/experience in helping students prepare for most types of test prep including: PSAT, SAT, NWEA, MAP tests, AP Literature Test, High school entrance exams (ISEE/SSAT (all levels), HSPT, and SHSAT
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and being frequently caffeinated.
