In this weekly class, students will have the chance to practice conversational Cantonese with fun and interesting topics. Learners can strengthen their fluency in Cantonese in a fun and encouraging way!

Do you want your little ones to speak Cantonese more fluently and comfortably? In this ongoing weekly course, we will look at interesting and fun topics and students can practice conversational skills while developing the language. Students can feel comfortable speaking the language and I will correct them if needed. Students will be encouraged to use complete sentences and speak with confidence. This will be a small class where students can discuss and interact with each other. Hello, my name is Joanne. Nice to meet you!
I was born in Hong Kong but moved to Canada when I was six years old. Growing up, my family speaks to me in Cantonese so I'm bilingual in Cantonese and English. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Geography, I went back to Hong Kong to work. Working in Hong Kong for ten years has deepened my understanding of Chinese culture and language. I love both languages and use them daily with my family and friends.
I am now back in Canada and have been teaching children for over 10 years. I am a TESOL-certified online ESL teacher and currently teaching online ESL English and Cantonese to children in the US, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Korea from ages 4-13. I am also teaching Korean adults. I also have a ten-year-old son and we love to read, play in the park, and explore new places.
I believe you will learn more and be better at it when you are enjoying what you are doing. I love to make my students smile and laugh. I will use my bilingual skills and my experience with children to help each student to learn their best. My classes are fun, engaging, and educational.
