Class Experience

This class is designed for students 15 years old and older who want to better their drawing skills by learning the art of drawing the human figure. All figures drawn will be clothed, but may be wearing form fitting clothes. Poses will include both sitting, standing and action poses to give students the chance to draw many different positions of the human body. Models will include all races and ethnicities. There will be no romantic poses. Terminology taught will include: proportion, gesture, line of action and contraposto. Each class will begin with quick 2 minute gesture drawing followed by 5 minute gestures and building towards a 45 minute pose at the end. Students are encouraged to use charcoal or graphite pencils to do their sketches as this will better build the muscle memory needed, but may choose to use digital on occasion.

Optional weekly challenges will be available to students to complete in between classes.

My name is Ashley Kaye I am an artist with years of teaching in the public school system under my belt. I have built multiple art programs from the ground up and I believe that anyone can be an artist if they have the right training. In my years of teaching art I have seen timid students blossom into wonderful artists with the help of the right tools. There has never been a student that I couldn't teach, and I don't believe in giving up until we get it right.

I teach group classes on digital and traditional art as well as private art lessons. Want a specific time for a lesson or class? Just shoot me a message and I'll do my best to make it happen.

I adore Godzilla (probably to an unhealthy extent) and I live in Idaho with my husband, three beautiful kids, six chickens, the world's most ridiculous cat and a fat lazy German Shepard named Lucky.
