Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, students will have the opportunity to practice logical thinking, problem solving, and math skills with brain teasers and math puzzles. In each class, we will solve several puzzles that require "out of the box" thinking of math skills. This class will be especially fun for your math-minded student, but it can also be a creative way to practice math skills for students who don't find math fun. Most of the puzzles will be aimed at 3rd/4th grade level math skills, but they be challenging due to the problem-solving nature of the puzzles. Students should be comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing as well as recognizing basic fractions, patterns, etc. Students will be given time to solve the puzzle independently and then we will walk through the explanation together. I will offer support and hints to students who need them over chat. Each class will consist of at least 4 activities.

Week of Oct 13: Pattern Puzzles
Week of Oct 20: Emoji Puzzles
Week of Oct 27: Halloween Themed Puzzles

Week of Nov 10: Puzzles Using Exponents (*will include explanation of exponents)

I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.

I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.

As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.

I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
