This Debate Club meets weekly for group debates on topics chosen by the students. We vote on topics during class, so there's nothing to prepare ahead of time. 

Students will practice debate individually, in pairs, and on teams. We'll use "breakout rooms" in our live Zoom meetings so teams can research and prepare their arguments. The teacher will moderate the debate practice to ensure everyone gets speaking time and that the debates are organized and respectful. 

Students will help select topics, which may include questions like:

-Is cloning justified? 
-How is social media effecting society for better or for worse? 
-Is the death penalty justified? 

Sessions also include semi-structured Warmup Debates and Mini-Lessons to teach debate fundamentals like "crafting logical arguments" and "rebutting logical fallacies".

Since this is an Ongoing/subscription-based class, we'll meet at the same day/time every week. Come whenever you like and only pay for classes you attend.
