Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
This Debate Club meets weekly for group debates on topics chosen by the students. Students will practice debate individually, in pairs, and on teams. We'll use "breakout rooms" in our live Zoom meetings so teams can research and prepare their arguments. The teacher will moderate the debate practice to ensure everyone gets speaking time and that the debates are organized and respectful. Students will help select topics, which may include questions like: -Is cloning justified? -How is...
I teach Debate on Outschool as a 4 week Live Class and as a Flex Class and have received requests to make a Weekly Debate Club. My business degree includes courses on public speaking and I've served on international business case competition teams, which have a similar format to a debate. It's crucial in today's world, filled with misinformation and arguments on social media, that young people know how to logically express themselves and engage with others.
