Class Experience

In this weekly class, students will engage in easy-to-follow dance lessons and activities that'll keep them moving and grooving to the music. Classes will begin with stretches to safely and properly warm up the muscles, then progress to movement paired with upbeat age-appropriate music.

Each week we will open with a cardio dance workout and then there will be a focus on a different aspect of dance and how it relates to physical fitness. The students will be led in an easy short dance routine to execute the lesson for the last part of class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I am Chon Reneé, also known as Miss C to my students! I own a dance studio & event center in California, where I teach dance, acting, and host various workshops that help kids ignite creativity, confidence, poise, and self-discipline. I love being creative and using the arts as my outlet. I have over 25 years of combined experience in my field.

I started teaching here on Outschool after the COVID-19 pandemic changed things for my studio business. Like many others, I am now working from home, along with my husband. For a while, my kids were doing school from home, as well, however, they are back to in-person instruction. Our dogs, Queen & Kingston, are most ecstatic about having us around way more - don't be surprised if you see their smiling faces trot by from time to time. I'm excited to offer group classes, private lessons, one-time workshops, parties, and week-long camps to the Outschool community! All dance choreography I use is original to me.

One of the reasons I love working with kids is because I enjoy helping to instill in them the tools they need to be confident and creative. I believe that performing arts creates life lessons that extend beyond any stage! In fact, performing arts skills can help people excel in the board room, classroom, or wherever you imagine. In my classes, students will hone in on their talents & skills (known and unknown), and revel in finding an outlet for their creativity.

In addition to my performing arts training and experience, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and have spent some time working as a TV correspondent, radio show host, and editor for newspapers and magazines. I use these experiences to help train people, especially youth, the skill of public speaking, no matter the platform. I've curated pageants designed for kids, and one of the key skills I focus on is helping kids learn the art of communicating confidently.

In conjunction with owning a dance studio & event center, I conduct dance programs at private and public schools in my area and lead dance fitness programs at various senior living facilities in Northern California. Some of my career highlights include being the founder of a high school dance team; performing at “Honda’s Battle of Bands” at the Georgia Superdome two consecutive years; performing at the halftime NBA New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornet’s basketball game; choreographing for an NBA Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game halftime performance; being a cast member of the Cirque Dreams “Splashtastic” - a cirque-style performance show. I am most proud of my work focusing on developing and training children in dance & performing arts.

If you have a special request or any questions, please send me a message. I strive to respond to all messages within one business day. Lastly, if you see a class that you'd love for your learner to take, but are experiencing financial hardship, reach out, and I will discuss my discount program, if available at the time!

I look forward to having your child as one of my students!
