I believe that Children learn through tactile play and that learning should be fun and engaging! In this weekly class we will have fun playing together and learning. Children will be asked to follow verbal directions like: -can you find 2 red blocks -can you find one green and one yellow? -can you place a blue block on top of green - can you first place a blue block on top of green and then place a red block all the way on top of the blue? Depending on the learners in class, what skills...
Skills we will go over include: -colors -shapes -counting -patterning -following verbal directions -following multi step directions -copying or replicating a design by sight
I am a certified teacher of both special education and general education, birth through grade 6. I also have a master's degree in literacy, k-12. I worked many years as a preschool special needs teacher in a 12:1:2 classroom.
Learners can use Duplos, Mega blocks, or Legos. Whatever is easiest for them to work with. Please bring a minimum of 3, maximum of 7 for each of the following colors: Blue, Green, Yellow, Red Extra blocks are allowed and welcome for creative play.
There is no formal assessment. As I work with your child I will pick up on what they know and what skills we can work on and then adjust our play to suit their individual needs.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
