Hi there! Let me tell you a bit about my new club: Seasonal Origami! Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper. There are thousands of origami creations out there ranging from very beginner to super, super hard! In this class we'll focus on beginner and beginner-intermediate projects. Every week we will have a new seasonal origami character to create! What these are will depend on the season, skill level, and interests of the students. You are welcome to follow along with us every week to really hone in on your origami skills or you can just pop by whenever a class really interests you! You don't have to go to previous sessions to take the class. General structure of the class: First we'll take a look at some examples of that weeks origami and discuss how it could've been made. Then the students will receive step-by-step instructions as well as visuals to follow along at home. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and share their work. The most important thing to me is that we are having fun! *note schedule is subject to change based on learner’s wants and needs. Weekly Schedule: 3/20 - bunny face 3/27 - tulip flowers 4/3 - the leaping frog 4/10 - butterfly There is so much more fun stuff for us to be doing! I can't wait to meet y'all and get creating!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Erin Serrano and I'm an artist and teacher living in Austin, Texas! I enjoy teaching drawing, painting, and 3D visual art classes. I have taught ages 5-18 years old in school, at musuems, and online. I truly believe art is so important for young students. It teaches fine motor skills, how to make and work with your mistakes, creativity, and most importantly a way for them to express themselves. My focus is to initiate learning through fun and engaging work. Although it is just me teaching there will be an occasional guest appearance by my cat Meatball! Let's have some fun and make art!
