Weekly 1:1 Drawing & Painting: Acrylic, Watercolor & More (Seasonal Themes)
Class experience
Welcome to a weekly art workshop where learners will be following along as I draw & paint so they can learn where to begin, what colors to use, how to create depth, etc. (I will have a separate camera set up so that learners will be able to better see what it is I'm drawing/painting.) While the majority of my pictures will be painting using acrylic paint, you will notice below that we will be using various mediums depending on the picture we are making that day: pencils, markers, gouache,...
Learners will gain plenty of art experience from creating a variety of different pictures and will become more comfortable with using different art mediums such as acrylic, gouache or watercolor paints.
One of my favorite classes as a teenager was art class! I even was awarded two years in a row for a couple art projects which were displayed at a local art gallery (both were acrylic paintings). I have enjoyed incorporating art into my English lessons for over ten years as art always lifts the mood of everyone in class! I currently enjoy painting cards for the residents in my local community as well as hosting zoom "art nights" where both children and adults around the US get together and paint or sketch, with some doing digital art. My art style is usually colorful and upbeat when painting and cutesy/cartoony when sketching. The kind of art pieces I admire most tend to be whimsical, quirky and say a lot without having to speak.
While learners can request to use any medium they would like, it's always good to have a pencil handy to sketch first for some of the pictures we will be making. For pictures where we will be using watercolor: watercolor paper (this is a thicker paper made specifically for using watercolors), watercolor paints, at least one paintbrush, a cup of water for dipping the brush in, and a paper towel (or other towel to avoid spills/clean up). If your learner prefers another paint type such as poster paint or acrylic paint you can use any kind of paper that is sturdy enough for painting on along with a cup of water, paintbrush, paper towel, and paper plate/painting dish for putting the paint in.
