40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this weekly watercolor class students will learn various techniques for painting with watercolors as they are guided through two new paintings each week. This will be a fun, easy going, and interactive class that will concentrate on creative expression and fostering a growth mindset as students also expand their artistic skill sets. No experience necessary. Each week students will need: Watercolor paints (any brand) A cup of water Paper towels Various sized watercolor paint brushes Watercolor paper - 2 small pieces each week (I will be using 6” x 9”) *If your learner uses larger paper than this, they may not finish their paintings during class time. *please invest in specialized watercolor paper. Any brand is fine. It does not need to be professional quality, but watercolor paper has a special texture and thickness made to hold up to the amount of water I will be instructing students to apply to their paper. Specialized watercolor paper (again, any brand) will give them the best results! Please see each week’s class description for any extra supplies needed for each painting. SCHEDULE - October 20: spooky theme October 27: Halloween theme November 3: Bakery November 10: Fall trees November 17: Tea for Two November 24: Bobcats December 1: River through the Forest December 8: Ornaments, Gifts & Candles December 15: No class December 22: No class December 29: No class January 5: Winter Wonderland

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, friends! My name is Amy Sloan and I am an artist and a teacher. My degree may be in Photojournalism, but it’s painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting that I adore and seek to share with art lovers of all ages!
My teaching philosophy mirrors that of the late, great Bob Ross, who helped inspire my own growth mindset by teaching that there are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents.
I currently teach arts and crafts in an after school/summer camp program for middle school students. I have further experience teaching jewelry making and illustration to both children and adults. And I am also the mother of a budding kindergarten artist!
I have been teaching on Outschool for over a year now and I love meeting new friends from around the globe and sharing what I know with them. I can’t wait to share all of my artistic tips and tricks with your student! Let’s make something beautiful!
