Description

Class Experience

Just like an in-person preschool or pre-K class, our course covers a wide variety of learning goals. Some of these learning goals include:
I can recite and identify the alphabet.
I can follow along during a read aloud.
I can identify what a title, author, and illustrator is.
I can count to 10 and identify the numbers 0-10.
I can identify the days of the week.
I can share my ideas with my teacher and my classmates.
I am certified in the Targeted Reading Intervention, which is a reading instruction program aimed at supporting beginning and struggling readers. Besides working as a virtual reading tutor for over 25 families a week, I have experience serving as a teacher's assistant and summer camp teacher for a range of elementary and middle school students. I am most experienced with working with young learners ages 3 to 6. I am also currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a specialization in elementary education.
The only "homework" your young learner will have is to spend time playing and reading with an adult! Preschool and pre-K students learn best through play. Before some classes, I may ask young learners to bring something for show-and-tell, but this will be well-communicated before class starts.
Before each class, a specific supply list will be provided to families. Normally, the supply list will include drawing materials (paper, crayons, markers, etc.) and/or an item for show-and-tell related to the theme of the class for that day. The item for show-and-tell will be something simple that your young learner can likely find around the house, such as a stuffed animal, something from outside, a pan from the kitchen, etc.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
