Grab an afterschool snack and join us in some writing fun! In this club learners will experiment with different types or writing such as word puzzles, spelling games,  story starters and other fun writing  activities to spark creativity. 

The goal of the writing club is to build community and engender writing ease when approaching written assignments. In this nonjudgmental space, young learners will gain confidence in their writing ability. 

This club is for perfect for young learners who find might find traditional writing assignments dull or lifeless or for those who enjoy making up stories. Each week a new writing game, prompt, or story starter will be given.  Learners will comment on each other’s in-class writing assignments. Sharing one’s writing is completely voluntary and learners will not be forced to share their writing. 

Since one of the goals of the club is excite young authors, the instructor, a professional writer herself, is encouraging and exuberate with all the writers. Each week learners will be given a different fun writing prompt, game or pictorial cue. 
Learners are encouraged to get journals for the games and prompts.  

Weekly Schedule:
•	Welcome: Learners will greet one another and engage in an icebreaker
•	Writing Activity: Writing game, story starter, pictorial cue or themed prompt
•	Composing: Timed writing in response to the prompt
•	Sharing: Learners who want to share will share
•	Closing: Instructor will play a closing writing game with learners

Below is a proposed schedule of prompts, games, etc. Each week is different and independent of the subsequent weeks.

September:
Week 1- Back to school writing game
Week 2- Pictorial cue- animal play
Week 3- Fall writing prompt 
Week 4- Funny Story starter

October:
Week 1- Harvest writing game
Week 2- Pictorial cue- autumn leaves
Week 3- Pumpkin writing prompt
Week 4- Funny story starter

November
Week 1- Guess who writing game
Week 2- Pictorial cue- animal babies
Week 3- Pumpkin writing prompt
Week 4- Funny story starter

December
Week 1- Winter writing game
Week 2- Pictorial cue- clocks
Week 3- Snow writing prompt
Week 4- Funny story starter
