Class Experience

Webtoon Creator Bootcamp: A Week-Long Camp for Aspiring Comic Artists!
Age: 13-18 | Duration: 5 Days | Format: Live Online | Experience Level: Intermediate

Class Description
Have a story idea you’ve always wanted to turn into a webtoon? This week-long bootcamp will take students through the entire process of creating, formatting, and publishing their own webtoon episode on Webtoon Canvas!

What is Webtoon?
Webtoon is a digital storytelling platform that allows creators to publish vertical-scrolling comics across a variety of genres, including:
✔️ Fantasy
✔️ Romance
✔️ Sci-Fi
✔️ Slice of Life
✔️ Superheroes
✔️ Comedy & more!

The platform offers aspiring artists a chance to share their stories with a global audience, with opportunities to monetize their work as they grow. To participate in this class, students must be at least 13 years old, as Webtoon requires creators to be 13+ to open an account.

What Will Be Taught?
This bootcamp guides students step by step through the process of webtoon creation:
Story Development, Storyboarding, Inking and Coloring - and finally how to publish!

By the end of the course, each student will have a short, polished webtoon episode ready to publish! ach session includes live instruction, demonstrations, and feedback, helping students refine their work in real time.

How Will I Teach?
✔️ Live Instruction & Demonstrations – I will guide students through each stage of the webtoon creation process, flipping between Procreate and Clip Studio Paint for demonstrations.
✔️ Hands-On Learning – Students will actively work on their webtoons during class.
✔️ Personalized Feedback – I will provide feedback throughout the week to help improve storytelling, composition, and technique.
✔️ Templates Provided – Procreate templates for storyboarding and final formatting will be included.

🔹 Note: This is not a class for learning how to use Procreate or Clip Studio Paint. Students must already be proficient in their chosen drawing medium, whether digital or traditional.

Requirements & Expectations
Age Requirement: Students must be at least 13 years old to create a Webtoon Creator account.
Webtoon Account Required: A Webtoon Canvas account must be set up before class.
Drawing & Uploading: Students must have a way to digitize and format their artwork for webtoon publishing.
Procreate Templates Provided: Storyboard & canvas files will be available for easy formatting.
Software Used: I will demonstrate in Procreate and Clip Studio Paint, but students can use any preferred medium.
Proficiency Required: This is not a beginner drawing class—students should be comfortable with digital art or traditional comic-making techniques.

Who Is This Class For?
✅ Teens (13-18) who love drawing, storytelling, and comics
✅ Artists who want to publish their own webtoon
✅ Students who are self-motivated & comfortable with digital tools
✅ Creators looking for a structured guide to webtoon publishing

Parental Guidance
Parental Guidance Webtoon is a popular digital platform that features a wide variety of comics across different genres, including fantasy, romance, action, sci-fi, slice of life, and more. While many webtoons are suitable for teens, some may contain mature themes, language, or content that may not align with every family’s preferences. As a creator-focused class, students will be learning how to publish their own webtoon and will be required to have a Webtoon Canvas account (which requires users to be at least 13 years old). However, Webtoon is a public platform, and parental guidance is encouraged to monitor the content their teen is engaging with. I strongly recommend that parents review Webtoon’s content policies and community guidelines and discuss appropriate content choices with their teen. If preferred, parents can explore Webtoon’s “WEBTOON Originals” and “Canvas” sections together to find content that aligns with their family’s values.
Pre-Requisites
Requirements 🔹 Age Requirement: Students must be at least 13 years old to create a Webtoon Creator account. 🔹 Webtoon Account: A Webtoon Creator account is required before the first class. 🔹Proficiency Required in digital medium
Supply List
Learner Supply List
Students can create their webtoon using digital or traditional methods, though digital is highly recommended for efficiency and ease of formatting. Below is a list of necessary supplies for both options.

Digital Art Supplies (Recommended)
Hardware:

Computer, tablet, or iPad
Digital drawing tablet (e.g., Wacom, Huion) or an iPad with Apple Pencil
Software:

Procreate (for iPad users) or Clip Studio Paint
Any other digital art program students are comfortable with
Access to Webtoon Canvas (students must create a free account before class)
Traditional Art Supplies (If Not Using Digital)
Drawing Tools:

Pencil and eraser for sketching
Fineliner pens or ink for inking
Coloring Supplies (Choose One):

Markers
Colored pencils
Watercolors
Other Essentials:

Ruler for paneling
High-quality paper suitable for inking and coloring
A way to scan or take high-resolution photos of artwork to upload digitally
Students using traditional methods should be prepared for the extra time needed to digitize and format their work for Webtoon Canvas. Because of this, digital tools are strongly recommended if available.
