Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to create and design their own professional websites using Wordpress and Canva. This class will provide the foundation to explore further and remove trepidation of using this powerful platform that powers millions of websites.
I have been a website designer and graphic artist for 20 years. I've designed dozens of websites and over a thousand graphics. I love teaching kids skills that they will use for real-life applications.
Students will be designing their own websites during this course.
Informal assessment.
5 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The students will need to sign up for 2 free programs for this course: Wordpress and Canva. The students will sign up for a free Wordpress acount during the first class at https://wordpress.com/free/#plans. They will also need to sign up for a free (not pro) Canva account at www.canva.com.
WordPress is an open-source content management system licensed under GPLv2, which means that anyone can use or modify the WordPress software for free. It powers over 40% of all the websites on the Internet.
