50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Hands on workshop in which students will design and build a website and blog (no prior coding knowledge required). They will also learn how to monetize their ideas and generate revenue. Each student will make their own unique website. Please message me any specific requests as this is a 1:2 or 1:3 small group class so I customize it precisely for your child's needs. Businesses launched by past students include: a leather goods online store, a website for a science fair website, made-to-order cupcakes, dog walking with an online booking form, a digital comic book, a fashion blog, a gardening blog, a personal ‘about me’ website and a resume website. What we cover: - Outlining the steps to starting a business. Brainstorming ideas and doing market research! Sharing ideas, providing feedback and developing a business plan. - Designing and building a website. Frontend (coding) principles. No prior coding knowledge is required. I will teach students everything they need to know to build great websites. - How to design graphics and optimize images for our websites. - UX and UI principles. Picking a color scheme, theme and font family. - Optimizing, refining and launching our websites! Writing and publishing our first blog post. - I just got my first customer, now what? How to handle sales and offer excellent customer service. Order processing and follow-up. Students who choose to design non-ecommerce websites e.g. a blog, will be given an alternate lesson plan for this class or can be a part of the lecture and discussion, in order to learn for future reference. - How to get your website to rank number 1 on Google search. Class pitches and wrap.
