Class Experience

This camp is designed to mix summer fun, socializing, and learning all together through our love of...ICE CREAM!
We will play games about ice cream, design ice cream flavors, create some crafts, and use our shaking skills to MAKE ice cream!

Day 1: I scream, you scream...we ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!
We will discuss our favorite favors and make a graph to see which ones we like most and least.
We will play an interactive game about ice cream flavors.
We will craft and design our own new, perfect ice cream flavor.
Needed: construction paper, glue, scissors (if allowed) and coloring utensils. Any and all other craft supplies that you are comfortable with your child using are welcome.

Day 2: Let's visit the Ice Cream Shoppe and design our own sundaes!
Using a die, we will roll to build a most deliciously sweet ice cream sundae!
With each roll, we will add scoops and toppings!
Needed: die, paper, crayons or colored pencils, watercolors.

Day 3: Let's Make Ice Cream!
Each learner will write an "Ode To Ice Cream..."

This class will be the most exciting one! We are going to make ice cream in a bag!
We will use our measurement skills, strong arms, and patience to make a basic ice cream.

Parental Guidance
Parents: This camp will be a great time! We will do some art projects that can be as messy or as not messy as you like. Your child can use paint, markers, crayons, etc. Please choose materials you are comfortable with them using.s If you have many craft supplies that are not listed: glitter, pom poms, etc. and your child would like to use them--that is also great. As for making the ice cream, they will need supervision to do so. If it is better for you and your family, your child can participate in the class and treat it as a "demo" and make their own ice cream when it is convenient for your family. Otherwise, they can make it along with me in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I am Ms. Marie, a lover of learning, playing and creating! I have been doing these things all of my life, and been sharing them with learners of all ages for 13 years!

I have been a "teacher" all of my life (babysitter, camp counselor, resident assistant, Peace Corps volunteer), but formally, I have been teaching since 2009. Much of my experience comes from teaching 3, and 4-year old children in a private preschool, and I have taught 1st and 2nd grade.

My strength as a teacher comes from teacher my ability to follow the interest of my learners and to create meaningful, play-based learning experiences in my classes. My classes incorporate literacy, numeracy, science and social studies in hands on ways so that learners can explore, create and engage with materials and each other. Whether a journaling class, a preschool class or a games camp, I have a ton of energy and loads of enthusiasm! I look forward to meeting you in my classroom!
