55 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
There is so much to do and see on Adopt Me Island! In this weekly class, learners will gain social skills and develop friendships while playing this popular Roblox game on a safe private server. Learners will be reminded about online safety and common scams to avoid within the game. Learners can adopt and age up pets, relax in the swimming pool, and decorate their houses. They can go to school and play on the playground. Creativity will blossom through roleplay of open-ended scenarios such as pretend families or working at the salon, pizza place, school, or hospital. Different tasks can be completed to earn in-game money. Come explore with us! For the safety and privacy of all learners, class recordings will not be shared.
Learning Goals
Students will gain social skills and increased creativity as we play Adopt Me! together on a safe, private Roblox server.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Christine, but in 2021, many of my learners started calling me by the nickname Ms. Wish after my gamer handle. I love it and it stuck! I have taught students from infants to senior citizens in various subjects, though I have a special affinity for video gaming, music, math, theater, and language.
During the 2019-2020 school year, I was teaching a self-contained 5th-grade class at a private school when I was suddenly required to shift to online learning. On Outschool, I teach mostly social gaming clubs as I have found a need for learners to socialize while playing their favorite online games in a safe and supervised environment. In these classes, students build important social skills needed to have fun and stay safe in an online gaming environment. I am a strong believer that much learning happens through play! Like Maria Montessori said "play is the work of the child." These days much play happens in the virtual world, and as a lifelong gamer I choose to embrace it!
I have had a passion for teaching since I was in 3rd Grade and was selected for a program that allowed a few students to tutor 1st-grade students in reading and math. Since then, I have worked as a teacher/tutor my entire adult life. I have a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies with a concentration in music and have received training in the Kodaly Method of teaching music to young learners. My instrument of choice is my voice.
I have a gentle and playful teaching style built on mutual respect. My favorite quote is from Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, "Careful the things you say. Children will listen. Careful the things you do. Children will see and learn."
When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking and rediscovering the wonders of nature with my son.
I am looking forward to seeing your learner in class!
