Join a group of curious adventurers as they solve mysteries, unravel puzzles, and arrest criminals in the D&D setting of the City of Splendors - Waterdeep.

Class experience

Students will learn about the medieval guild system.
Students will learn how to solve complex puzzles, riddles, and mysteries.
Students will learn to work together as a team to solve major crimes in Waterdeep.
Students will learn to how to work their way to the top of a medieval guild with the help of their teammates. 
Students will gain experience in using their critical thinking skills to solve challenging problems. 
Students will gain experience in role playing in order to extract information from non-playing characters. 
Students will gain a great deal of knowledge in the lore of Waterdeep and the Sword Coast (Forgotten Realms). 
Homework Offered
Ideally, students should be motivated to research their spells and skills during their "downtime" between sessions in preparation for the next class.

Assessments Offered
Each module will have a crime, puzzle or mystery to solve. Each challenge solved by the student's team should be perceived as a notable as a success.

 4 files available upon enrollment
Students must have a Roll20 account (free) in order to participate in the module. This simulates/facilitates normal table top play for D&D. All video and audio will be through Outschool/zoom. During Session 0, when we create our characters will we make sure all is ready for the first session, whereby we log on to Outschool and Roll20 simultaneously and have a rowdy hour of crime busting and problem solving.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This class will follow the Three Pillars of Adventure: exploration, role playing, and fantasy combat. While the emphasis is upon investigation and detective work, there will be an exchange of blows and spells during the sessions. Descriptions of violence will be minimized and appropriate for the adventure story. 
The students will be provided access to the Roll20 compendium during this class. They may wish to purchase the D&D books for their own reference. Roll20 has an automatic die roller which we will use during the games, yet nothing beats rolling your own polyhedral dice.
