Description

Class Experience

Learners should walk away from this class feeling more comfortable with watercolour painting.
Some of the things we cover are: Wet on wet painting, Wet on dry painting, Dry brush , Detail, Splattering, Dabbing, Blending

Learners should also learn about basic composition and basic lighting

Class 1: I will demonstrate a variety of different watercolour painting techniques.
Class 2: Wet-on-wet, blending, layering and detail work.
Class 3: Splattering and shading to create an abstract style painting.
Class 4: Wet on wet, wet on dry, detail and background.
Class 5: Textural brushstrokes, wet on wet, blending, spraying and fine detail.
Class 6: Dabbing, lighting, layering, blending, background and detail work.

There will be no homework assigned, but if learners want to take on additional work I will be happy to assign a painting and provide feedback.

If a learner does not finish the painting in class time i will expect them to do it in their own time.
- Watercolor paper (regular paper will not work) You can usually find a pad of watercolour paper starting at 10 dollars. You will need at least one sheet of paper per class, maybe 2. - Watercolor paint set. You will need a minimum of blue, orange, red, purple and yellow. More paint options is better. Paynes Grey is my favourite colour and I use it a lot. - 4+ Soft paint brushes ranging from 1in inch thick (flat) to a very thin round one for details. - 2 containers filled with water - Paper Towels - Painter's Tape or Masking tape - A hairdryer (very important) - Waterproof, felt tipped, black pen. I use Micron size 08.
I do not usually to grade art, but I can provide a mark upon request.

I will provide helpful feedback if the learner sends me a photo of their painting in the learner area.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Watercolor paintings require a blowdryer. Supervision may be required for younger learners.
