In this class, students will create their own masterpiece with washi tape and watercolors.
Class experience
Students will participate in a fun art class where they will make shapes and lines out of washi tape, watercolor the spaces in between, and then splatter some paint on top of their masterpieces to give it the finishing look. They will learn various vocabulary words related to the class as we go along, such as, triangle, square, splatter, etc. The class will start with introductions and then we will make sure that everyone has all the supplies they need. I have been teaching students for the past 10 years in various settings : ESL, learning centers, art classes, teaching abroad, English, Math, and many other extracurricular classes. I also have experience working with children in group homes and counseling setting where I utilized art often. It is a great way for children to express themselves and feel in control. I would love to work with your child and help them venture into their creative side!
- White Paper- computer paper , drawing paper, thicker art paper would work better -Watercolor set -Paint Brushes -Washi Tape - various sizes, colors, and designs. Please look at the display picture for an example of what size tapes I will be using. This is completely up to the learner. - Scissor - OPTIONAL. The learners can easily rip the washi tape with their hands, but they can also use a scissor under parental guidance. -Clean water for cleaning the brushes in between colors -Paper towel to dry the brushes -Towel or table cloth to cover the work space - we will be doing a bit of splattering in the end
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be some splattering involved towards the end of the project, so I suggest laying out an old towel or table cloth that can be easily cleaned.
