Students will paint in a relaxed environment while following along with my step-by-step demonstration - knowing it's ok to make mistakes or change parts of the picture to make it their own. We will work with watercolor paints to create a sunset-marsh scene. Students will be using a basic watercolor pallet set (8 colors) and are invited to use inexpensive watercolor paper, so they can learn how to adjust and work with this type of paper. Through this class, students will learn a variety of techniques some are standard watercolor painting techniques and some could be considered non-traditional.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I will be teaching a variety of painting classes. I am currently a High School Mathematics teacher and a mom working with my 4 children ages 9-17 to ensure that they're online/homeschooling is successful. I have taught 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade. While teaching 3rd and 5th grade I focused on cross-curricular units to grab student's attention while we're learning new skills and reviewing previously learned skills. After teaching elementary school for 5 years I moved onto teaching Middle School. During my time as a Middle School Teacher I taught, 7th grade Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Intro to engineering, after-school Art club, and an after schools drama club.
I believe every student has the ability to create and use Art to help express their emotions. Art can be an amazing outlet. As we create we have to learn to be accepting of our own art, understand it doesn't have to look exactly like what your learning, and know that it is okay to make something your own by adding your own style to it.
I also believe every student is a Mathematician of some sort, and we use what we know about Math to figure out the things we do not know about Math. Math is not an inherited skill, it's learned practiced skill - that takes practice and perseverance.
As we transition back to a normal school year most of my courses will be offered through flexible learning classes, but feel free to message me if there is a particular course you would like to schedule, and we will figure out how to make it work.
